CHRIS TAYLOR

FOR SCHOOL BOARD, LIVINGSTON PARISH DISTRICT 5

District 5 hasn't had a contested School Board election in nearly 40 years. During that time, the seat has remained in the hands of the same small circle rather than being decided through competitive elections.

This year, voters have an opportunity to change that. Chris Taylor believes it's time to break from the status quo, restore accountability to the voters, and move our schools and our parish forward with fresh leadership.

About Chris

Chris Taylor knows that strong schools help build strong communities. Originally from Farmerville, Chris and his family moved to Livingston Parish in 2005 before settling in Denham Springs in 2007. He is the proud father of three daughters, all graduates of Doyle High School.

Chris earned his degree in Business Administration from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. Today, he serves as Chief Operating Officer of Shamrock Marine, where he oversees human resources, safety, and operations for a workforce of more than 250 employees across Louisiana and Texas.

Throughout his career, Chris has built a reputation for responsible leadership, accountability, and putting people first. He understands the importance of making sound decisions, managing budgets responsibly, and creating an environment where people can succeed.

When he's not working, Chris enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.

Chris is running for the Livingston Parish School Board because he believes every decision should be guided by one priority: doing what's best for our students, supporting our teachers, and preparing the next generation for success.

A Bold Vision, Real Solutions

School Safety
Comes First

Nothing is more important than protecting our children. Today, visitors can access much of the Denham Springs High School campus through multiple exterior entrances during the school day. We must strengthen campus security by controlling access points, improving physical security, and ensuring our schools are prepared to respond to any emergency. Keeping our students and staff safe must always be our highest priority.

Stand Up for Our Teachers

Teachers deserve classrooms where they can teach without fear of disruption, intimidation, or violence. Too many educators are expected to manage chronic discipline problems that begin long before students arrive at school. We must restore discipline, hold students accountable for their behavior, support parents, and make sure every teacher knows the School Board has their back.

Pay Teachers What They Deserve

Our teachers are among the best in Louisiana, yet their salaries continue to lag behind much of the South. Recruiting and retaining great educators requires competitive pay. I will fight for meaningful teacher raises while demanding responsible budgeting and identifying new revenue sources so we can reward our teachers without asking taxpayers for another tax increase.

Plan for Denham Springs Growth

Denham Springs continues to grow, but our long-term planning has not kept pace. It's time to begin planning for a new high school to serve the next generation of students. I support building the Shawn Kelly High School near 4-H Club Road and believe the cost of growth should be shared by new development through developer impact fees - not placed on existing taxpayers.
